Wednesday, May 29, 2002:

I've been trying to decide how I feel about Berocco's Chinchilla. On the one hand, it's an absolute nightmare to knit--if you drop a stitch, you can pretty much forget about ever finding and fixing it, so it takes a lot of concentration--but on the other, it makes such a wonderful fabric that I almost think it's worth it. I knitted a fuzzy Barbie sweater last night out of Chinchilla Vanilla, and immediately went over to the computer to see what other colors it came in. I think it would be very cool in black, and maybe dark purple would be nice, too. It makes me think of soft feathers, angel wings . . . I got as far as looking at the color cards, then decided to wait.

Shipping costs always get me. I hate to pay shipping. I know that's dumb, but I would much rather have the shipping rolled into the product itself. I can't count the number of times I've gotten all excited about ordering something, both online and through catalogs, then reached the final step and, seeing how much the shipping was going to be, abandoned the order.

I'm sure I'll be ordering some in the near future, anyway. It's just too luxurious not to.
