Okay, so a knitting friend told me about this new yarn store a few months ago. I hadn't been there yet. It's not really convenient to where I work now--it takes about 15 or 20 minutes to get there, it's in kind of a residential area, so there's no good place to park. It's not a really quick place to drop in over a lunch hour, and their hours are short: they close at 5:00 except on Thursdays, when they're open 'til 7:00, and they're closed on Sundays.
But they were on the list of Opal distributors.
A local place to buy sock yarn?!
So I went today on my lunch hour. There was a parking spot on the street right outside the door. And, oh my! I was fairly restrained, I only bought two balls of Fortissima Mexico and two balls of Sockotta. And a pair of Brittany Size 0 needles, just to torture myself.
I wasn't prepared, though; it's so hard to pick out sock yarn if you don't know specifically what you're looking for. They had some Opal Crocodile, which I recognized, and the Regia is pretty standard, of course. But I don't know what the Sockotta is going to end up looking like, and there were some intriguing balls of Opal that I just didn't want to take a chance on.
So maybe I'll do some research and go back another day . . .
