I finished the first Regia sock and immediately cast on for the second one, on the theory that if I waited any time at all, I would be too tempted by the Opal yarn that arrived last night, and wouldn't be able to resist.
The Regia sock is a little bit big and loose, but not bad. The only thing that makes me a little bit unhappy is having to make another one just like the first one, i.e., make another one wrong, the alternative being ripping it out entirely and starting over (or abandoning it, I guess, but I've already got another skein of yarn for the second one).
I'm glad I did it, though. I'd been very leery of starting more socks, since I couldn't be assured they'd be perfect. I needed to just get in there and do it, and if it didn't work out, consider it practice. I hate to waste yarn, though. And they'll be fine, they're just not, you know, perfect.
The heel is perfect, though. After ripping it out and doing it for the third time because of poor directions, the heel is lovely, and I surprised myself by not getting any gaps in the picked up stitches at the gusset. I seem to be able to do that just fine. Who would have thought it?
