Monday, April 07, 2003:

I wore the blue Fortissima socks to work today and made everyone admire them, which they did, bless them.

I figured out a shortcut--I thought, do I have to do the dreaded Kitchener stitch? It was making me put off finishing the blue socks, because I can never do it the first time, and I wondered if that was the only way to finish a sock toe.

So I got out Socks, Socks, Socks and looked at a bunch of patterns, and a few of them were finished by threading the yarn through the last few stitches and pulling it up tight, and I tried that on the second blue sock, and I actually like it better than doing grafting, it makes a nice, round toe rather than the squarish, pointy Kitchener one.

And so much easier!

It's my new toe of choice.
