Saturday, June 28, 2003:

Let's see. I finished the Trekking XXL socks and started a pair in Opal Brasil 5001, which I totally love, but which are going very slowly. I'm not sure why.

My big push has been to finish the second Suki bag, made mostly out of some hand-dyed wool, supplemented with leftover Cascade 220 from the last one.

I got the Knitpicks order, and was pleased with the Cascade 220 Quatro in "Teal" (actually a fairly bright turquoise plied with a beige or light tan strand), but hated the "Autumn" colorway--the green/orange blend turned out to be a particularly unattractive brown in person. So I sent it back. I considered order another colorway of the Quatro, but decided in the end just to return it and think about more yarn later.

I had originally planned to make another Suki-like tote with the Quatro, but now think I'm going to make the My Constant Companion from Knitter's Stash.

We're taking a little mini three-day vacation next week, so I've been planning what knitting to take. The socks, of course. I finished the second Suki last night, except for the straps, so I might take the strap knitting with me. And I might finally start the Hot Water Bottle Cozy. And there's another Seaman's scarf I started out of some Elann-purchased multi-ply wool in brown and cream that may be a Christmas present for either my brother or a male friend. The angora for the Cozy and the wool for the scarf are already packed in my knitting bag, I just need to find some waste yarn for the provisional cast-on for the Cozy, and I'm all set. And the sock bag is always ready to go.

The other thing going on the trip with me is the new Harry Potter book, although it's so huge that, while I adore long books, just holding it up is sometimes difficult. Between that and the angora and wool I'm taking with me, I'm not sure I'm going to want to be sitting outdoors too much, so since I do want to sit outdoors a lot next week, my prediction is that I will get very little knitting and very little reading done, and will just zone out in a lawn chair and possibly do a few sock rows.
