Wednesday, November 19, 2003:

I used tremendous restraint yesterday, I think. I have a subscription to the Elann knittable-samples newsletter thing, so they send samples of the yarns that are coming up in the next month, enough that you can swatch them.

The yarn for this week was their "Peruvian Collection Sierra," and the sample they sent was the "Spruce" color, a really gorgeous heathery turquoise. I decided I had to have some--way back the first of the month when the newsletter came out--and was breathlessly waiting for yesterday when it could be ordered.

I actually put it in my shopping cart before I came to my senses and realized that if I bought it, I would more than likely never make anything out of it. Yeah, I love it, and it's not that expensive, but I've got WAY more stash yarn than I'll ever probably knit up anyway . . .

I'm probably going to end up knitting most of the Araucania Nature Wool into felted bags rather than actual garments, because that's just what I do. I might as well give up the fantasy that I'm going to be knitting sweaters, because I just don't think I ever will. Sad, but true.

So now my mission is to figure out vacation knitting. We're going to Disney World in about two weeks with my in-laws; I doubt I'll have a lot of knitting time, so socks are probably the best bet--I've got a couple of balls of Opal that I've been saving back.

Then, we go to Mexico the end of January. I don't want to take something huge and heavy, but probably something more than socks, because there will probably be more down time then. Although I guess I wouldn't do much knitting lying around the pool . . . I'm thinking of getting some more Kureyon to knit a larger bag with, maybe a Booga Bag, since I haven't made one yet. Seems like that would be fun vacation knitting. The last time we went to Mexico, we ended up sitting in the airport for about five hours, so knitting is definitely required.

I also need to get "Folk Bags" back out tonight and look through it again with an eye to using some more of the Nature Wool.

I'm not exactly on a yarn diet, but I probably should be. I'm going to make a big effort to use up a bunch of my stash before I add to it.
