Tuesday, December 16, 2003:

Those of you who are also readers of my journal know that I've been going through some medical issues, and will have to have a hysterectomy in January. Working up to that, I've been having lots of gynecologist appointments, with all that entails.

One thing that makes me happy when getting dressed on the morning of one of those appointments is to pick out a pair of my wonderful handknit socks. They keep my feet warm while they're in the stirrups, and they look great. The last doctor I saw (male) didn't have any comments, but my regular doctor (female) loved them.

I only learned to knit socks in the past year, and along with everything else I'm wondering about, I'm wondering if having cozy toes during these seeminly interminable exams might not have been the reason for the sock knitting frenzy last winter.

In preparation for surgery (or actually, for the recovery), my friend Barbara Bretton, who is also a web design client of mine (and a knitter), sent me a very generous gift certificate to The Knitter, where I will very shortly be placing a large order for more Kureyon . . .
