I broke a Brittany needle today for the first time, and I know exactly how I did it. I wasn't even knitting with it--I had a sock on five inch Size 1 doublepoints in the bottom of my knitting bag, and I jammed a BIG skein of Lion Brand Fisherman's wool in on top of it, and it wouldn't quite fit in the bag nicely, so I sort of shoved it. Then later, when I wanted to work on the sock, I found that one of the needles had snapped into two toothpicks.
Ah well.
The Fisherman's Wool is becoming a hot water bottle cozy from Rachel's pattern. I'm not crazy about the wool for this--it's too stiff--but I wanted to try it out in something that wasn't too dear before I made a "real" one.
The Christmas scarves were a big hit, except that one of my sisters-in-law also knit scarves for my two nieces, so that was a bit of a letdown, although I guess you can't have too many scarves, really . . .
