I spent yesterday evening watching rented movies ("Matchstick Men" and "Down With Love") and knitting on my Koigu tarot bag. It's actually the second try--I frogged the first one.
My original thought was to have a bag that fit fairly tightly around the deck, with ribbing at the top that kind of closed naturally, and not have any kind of drawstring.
But then I worried that that might not be the best solution, and I re-thought, and decided to make it a little larger, and I knit in a row of eyelets for a drawstring, and then I decided it needed to be more interesting than just plain stockinette, so I was putting in a cable up the back, and one up the front.
And that was okay, but I was a little unhappy with the fabric--I was using Size 2 needles and it was a little too loose.
So I frogged it and started over with Size 1-1/2 needles and fewer stitches (52), and I'm much happier with it. The plan is to make it just longer enough than the deck itself so that it goes in and the ribbing closes up above it, thus keeping it from falling out. It's not like I'm going to be swinging it around over my head or anything.
If it works out, and I don't see any reason why it shouldn't, there may be many tarot bags in my future, since I have several decks. I think this particular Koigu colorway goes nicely with the colors of this (Olde English) deck. I have a couple more hanks of Koigu, a hank of Classic Elite "Flash," some very cool Garnstudio "Silke-Tweed," and a really interesting Berroco Glacé that I'd like to try, although that particular one would, I think, need to be larger, and maybe crocheted rather than knit . . .
And yeah, I'm still injured. My shoulder hurt a little bit last night, so I'll probably lay off for a couple of days. It didn't hurt as much as it does after I knit with large needles, because there isn't as much movement, but still probably wise not to push it.
