Wednesday, September 28, 2005:

I'm still working on the dog sweater, but SOOOO slowly. Honestly, if I actually sat down and worked on it, I could probably finish it in an evening. But most of my knitting is done while I'm waiting somewhere, or just a few odd moments here and there, like on a conference call at work, or stuck in traffic, or something like that. But this is so fiddly, with so many increases and decreases, and counting, that I can't do it without the pattern in front of me.

So I keep carrying it to work and back, and not knitting on it at all. I did most of the front piece while I was at my parents' for my dad's birthday on Sunday, ended up ripping it all out because I did increases instead of decreases because I wasn't paying attention.

I really need to finish it, because we're going out of town for a few days next week, and I need to start something mindless so I can have knitting for the car, and for sitting on the bank while Bob fishes. Or what I'll probably do is stick a couple of balls of sock yarn and some double points in my bag and call it a day.

Willa, I know what you mean. I have found over time that I really enjoy mindless knitting more than any other kind of knitting. I knit mostly to destress and I also do most of my knitting while waiting or watching TV, and I can't pay attention to a pattern and watch TV or carry on a conversation too.

Right now I'm working on a baby blanket that is a basket weave pattern. I have to pay attention and the rows are really long, so I think it's going to take me awhile to finish it. I have been working on it for a long time. I end up carting it back and forth to work and working on it, and sometimes I don't work on it at all. I know it's going to be really pretty when it's finished, but it's taking a really long time.

I am in the process of knitting a Kitty Pi for my cat, and I'm thinking about not felting it at all. I like the ones you made for your cats.
