I've had a couple of people write to me and say they weren't able to post comments without a Blogger ID to sign in with. I checked, and I have it set up so that you can also post anonymously -- under the "sign in" button on the Blogger comments page, there's a little link that says "Or Post Anonymously." If you click that link, you'll get the comment entry form.
It's a little more complicated than some of the posting systems, and I think they should probably do away with the sign-in, but the reason I chose to use Blogger's comments rather than one of the independent services is that they're (the Blogger comments) stored on my server along with my weblog entries. I've noticed that on some sites that use off-site comments, if the remote server goes down or is slow, it affects the loading speed of the weblog, which sometimes can't load at all.
I had been waiting for Blogger to introduce comments, and they finally did. So while it's a little more complicated, I think it's worth it.
In knitting content, I started a new pair of Opal Inspiration socks at a family reunion on the 4th of July. I stuck some needles and a new ball of Opal in my bag when I left the house, not really knowing if I'd knit at all, but after sitting in a lawn chair under a tree with the rest of my extended family for a couple of hours, I had a respectable couple of inches on a new sock, with time off for passing it around to show everyone.
One of my cousins did say, though, "Wow, it must take a long time to knit a pair," and my reaction was to goggle at her, since I thought I'd made pretty good progress. I mean, yeah, I guess it's slower than actually buying socks.
